I hope 150M us tiktok users can sense what problem decentralized social solves now.
What are people's opinions on the hardware level vulnerability found in M1/M2/M3 chips and the fact that Apple doesn't allow us to change/upgrade any of the hardware so we're just stuck with that? I really love what this company "framework" are doing with their laptops: frame.work/products/laptop-diy-13-gen-amd?tab=overview
Anyone here own one of these? Planned obsolescence by companies like Apple is truly horrible. These laptops on the other hand are insane in their upgradability, each part comes with a scannable QR code with everything you need to repair or upgrade. This reminds me of a concept Motorola was working on probably like a decade ago at this point with phones were you upgrade the parts independently (for example you might not want to upgrade the camera every single year). It really feels like we have no ownership over the things we buy anymore. These days most videogames you buy are designed to stop functioning in a couple of years when they take down the online servers, which for a lot of games also breaks offline singleplayer modes; gone are the days of owning a CD and a gaming console, and these two things being yours to keep functioning until they break. Just one of many examples of how drastically and rapidly things have evolved in this regard. Really hope this trend gets corrected in the long run!
