I like this idea, and this is something widely adopted by various business as a marketing strategy (like fan art competitions).
I understand (and support) the "dream big" meta, and sometimes I'm an idealist myself (if I weren't, I would be soo rich rn lol) but we need to find a middleway between dream and reality.
I believe in Lens and, finding a way to bring big money in, all the community can thrive from it.
Lens interaction doesn't require paying for gas
I even think both models can coexist, serving different purposes. Collects can be a gateway to a more premium and exclusive experience, but free content sposored by big companies are definetly the top of the funnel we're missing.
I think you're confusing content for products.
Of course in plain english a content can be a product (like an e-book, a masterclasss), but in the context of the creator economy I mean "creator" as in oppose of traditional advertising. An indiviual who built an organic community and can now convert this community to consumers.
Instead of business owners paying marketing agencies to design a campaign hiring actors and models, their pay content creators to run campaigns for them, OR, they pay the platform to run ads and then the platform shares revenue with creators based on conversion.
I think it is exaclty what you were talking about 🎉
I would market this as "Local Graphs", since "graphs" is something Lens already has from day 1.
But being able to build local graphs is the big deal.
yes. the tech for this is ready tbh, we just need to figure it out why isn't it happening yet
What do you suggest is better than patronage?
Because again, we can't expect all money flow to come directly from users.
The right way to fix content creators' income is not by taking more money from the average Lens user. Instead, we need to attract big money to Lens—aka sponsors.
For example, @aave could invest in content creators to produce valuable content showcasing how to use its products, driving user engagement and conversion to the platform.
The question is: what are the missing pieces needed to make this happen?
