Predictions for 2024 Frens?

I think I nailed 2023 pretty well a recap:

Was pretty sure composability and analytics metas from 2022 would continue strong

And voila we’ve seen a rice of event notifs, extend push infra and composability going strong.

From Decent to Open actions Furthermore 2023 was the year that L2s finally took off.

With the launch of Base, Nova and other shenanigans like Blast the L2 wars are starting to heat up and tvl is going up.

Another huge improvement I foresaw last year was the rapid explosion of UX improvements for clientsAA and Smart wallets were the talk of the year (even though implementation is still scarce across the ecosystem)

And relayers for gasless onboarding, minting, … are finally becoming a standard.

Super excited to see Passkeys and signatureless options starting to permeate slowly For 2024 I see many of these trends continue. Passkeys and smartwallets will become the norm.

Bridging including for complex txs will become increasingly abstracted away (e.g Zora, Decent, Layer 0)

Composability is gonna go nuts as social graphs start to explode I see lots of interesting stuff coming here. Lens and Farcaster are fully down the composability rabbit🕳️

I also think we’ll see some major UX abstractions for chain switching especially for EVM chains

Another big one will be a new wave of simpler on/off-ramp solutions w/o kyc KYC less ramps are important to maintain our autonomy and I hope ZK will play a pivotal role here. Same goes for stable coins - I have big hopes for @gho to carry the torch for decentralized stables going forward 🤞

Furthermore I’m very excited to see the RWA and import web2 data trend continue with ever more complex oracles thanks to Chainlink functions.

Last but not least…

I think Verifiable Credentials will finally have their moment next year. Big moves by established players like @discoxyz @coinbase and EAS.

Honestly lot of ways this can take off next year but it will probably be around fun and novel verification games.

Verifiable social data

Theres obviously tons more going on and I could write a whole thread on spaces like "consumer crypto" or "web3 social"

However these are currently overblown terms with lots of hopium and very little to show for (I’d know)

Very bullish on web3 social as I have been since 2020…

But that doesn’t change that we’re still in the phase of figuring out how to create value for onchain social graphs and even more importantly how/can we scale that value beyond our crypto native audience.

Because that seems to be challenge that no one has solved for so far…
