Lat 2 days to collect the work from the “ELIZA Effect” 🥺❤️
!!!
Launching in one hour!
"ELIZA Effect" is a collection featuring work by @arvidabystrom , @conniebakshi , @crosslucid and @isthisanart , inspired by the tendency to attribute human-like thoughts to AI. It's named after ELIZA, a chatbot created in 1966 by MIT's Joseph Weizenbaum, the first program capable of engaging in plausible conversations with humans.
Using a script called 'DOCTOR,' ELIZA mimicked interactions with a psychotherapist.
This approach, based on Rogerian (person-centered) therapy, was compelling because it allowed the program to maintain a conversation by asking questions that didn't require deep contextual knowledge or an understanding of complex emotions like love and loneliness.
Now, four invited artists fantasize about switching roles with machines! hat is the difference between strangeness and familiarity when it comes to AI's physical presence?
Tomorrow at 10 AM PST, we’re launching the “Eliza’s Effect” collection, featuring work by five incredible artists: Arvida Byström, Connie Bakshi, CROSSLUCID, and Sarah Friend, who are asking the question: Can we resist the allure of artificial?
Stay tuned ♨️
This club is dedicated to the art collection called "Eliza Effect," which we will launch next Tuesday.
The ELIZA effect refers to the phenomenon where people attribute
human-like qualities, such as understanding and empathy, to artificial
systems.
