Hi Lensfrens!!
Today’s photo dump from my last trip to Chile takes us to the stunning Tatio Geysers, near Atacama, where nature’s power and beauty are on full display. We started our journey before sunrise to witness the geysers amidst the intense early morning fog. This spectacle happens because of the sharp temperature contrast between the air and the water, offering a breathtaking view.
Geysers are fascinating but as dangerous as they are beautiful. The water in El Tatio's geysers can reach around 86ºC – fatal if one falls in (and it has happened before). The local guides, who are deeply connected to this land, have placed rocks to mark safe boundaries, ensuring visitors can enjoy the view without risking their safety. Their stories about their families taking care of these geysers added a personal touch to our visit, making it more than just a tourist stop.
Wearing layers was essential, as the weather varied dramatically from the chilly early hours to warmer daylight. But the effort was worth it, as the geysers, shrouded in fog and first light, created a scene I’ll never forget 💜
