So what, one might ask? Are we just supposed to swallow our pride and agree with others instead of expressing our own different opinions? Of course not, only the weak will be "slaughtered". Of course, no one likes to hear a voice that disagrees with them, but that's the interesting thing about language.
But it was clear from the moment the argument began that this outcome was bound to be difficult to come by, which is why we say that even if you end up with the upper hand, it does not mean that you will win.
And the reason why we will argue with others, in the final analysis, is to persuade the other side, so that the other side agrees with our point of view, accept our opinion.
Therefore, in real life, nine times out of ten, the result of the argument will only make both sides more convinced of their correctness, even if the rational has found mistakes and flaws, but also in the emotional support of the opponent to the end.
When you dispute with others on a certain issue, or even quarrel, whether it is you or the other side, will inevitably breed competitive, and once this competitive spirit is stimulated, it is often difficult to really do a fair and objective discussion of a result.
