Mardita
A Mardita se le escapaba un suspiro al estar junto al mar. Cerca, pero jamás dentro. El océano observable era inmenso como su propio corazón. Una extensión de azul infinito que la atraía y la repelía a la vez.
En los confines del mundo, Mardita pisaba la arena de la costa, hasta allá la llevó el mar. A ella, a una mujer que nació sobre un barco. Allí la enjauló y la mantiene prisionera. A ella que vivía empapada de agua salada, que olía a salitre y a vientos marinos.
Ahí el destino quiso que terminara, porque Mardita fue condenada a vivir en tierra firme, porque el oleaje la amaba y sabía que no podía tenerla. Porque una Mardita azul y asfixiada no podría cantarle.
Mardita, criatura de tierra y aire, nunca podría ser solo del mar y su espuma argentada. Y el mar, temeroso de perderla, la alejó. Era preferible observarla a la distancia que caer en la vil y dulce tentación de adentrarla en sus fauces. ¿Cuánto de Mardita quedaría luego de un rato o dos bailando en las profundidades? El océano no se lo podía permitir y por ello la maldijo: "Jamás tocarás el mar, Mardita, porque si lo haces, mil cristales escondidos en la espuma te pincharán la piel".
Y así la nombraron: Mardita, la musa del océano, la maldita por el mar.
