Did Azuki just rug their own community?

People were shocked after spending 2 ETH on the Azuki Elementals collection, only to find out that the artwork is nearly identical to the OG Azukis.

The Azuki elementals collection of 20,000 NFTs sold out in just 15 minutes and raised $38m. But prices started to plummet after the reveal as the community discovered issues with the art, including some duplicates.

So why the disappointment? Azuki and BEANZ holders were required to put down a deposit of 2ETH - nearly $3,800 to mint the new collection but some community members couldn’t even mint because of the short 10 minute minting window.

Elementals are currently changing hands far below mint price at 1.45 ETH. The Azuki discord appears to be in disarray following the price dip. Azuki responded to the heavy backlash and scam accusations - but crypto twitter is having none of it. So, what does this mean for the future of Azuki Verse?
