Anyone currently studying and wants to pick up extra credits for their degree, I'm running a guest module in creative writing at Korea University in Seoul!
It's their winter intensive module and credits transfer back to your home institution. Classes will be philosophical and practical in what stories are and how we create them for a range of media. Ask me if you wanna know details:

Where reality can be seen as just a collectively built story that we all buy into to make life easier and sensible. It is interesting to note that it really is just made of stories. I explain how in this post and am experimenting with how collective storytelling in fiction can mimic the built world we all inhabit day-to-day.
I've extended the character generation phase of this collective storytelling experiment in order to give people more time to submit a character. Want to see what happens? Just throw a character into the world mix.
The Collective Storytelling Project: How it Works(?)
This is a narrative experiment in large-scale co-authorship as we sit together around the infinite decentralised table-top of Web3 (can we say DeTTRPG or is the whole De- prefix thing...
Roll Up! Char Gen! Join a New Gamified Collective Storytelling Experiment
Over in the t/TTRPG territory, we’re launching a gamified collective storytelling experiment! We invite you to join by creating a character you’d like to play and suggesting a name for...
🎬 Creative Writing in media lecture title art! In my screening lectures, I show Akira Kurosawa's iconic "Rashomon" to dive into the complexities of storytelling and the elusive nature of truth. This film not only showcases groundbreaking cinematic techniques but also serves as an overt exploration of subjective reality and human perception. It is a useful tool for encouraging students to think about how stories can be philosophy in-practice.
By examining the film's narrative structure, we discuss how creative writing can delve into philosophical themes such as the multiplicity of perspectives and the inherent biases in our recollections. While not the only film to explore these ideas, "Rashomon" was certainly among the first in the early days of global cinema to do so. It provides a rich framework for understanding how stories can challenge our notions of truth and reality, inspiring budding filmmakers and writers to push the boundaries of their craft. 📽️🖋️

If you're into creative writing and want to initiate a project, there's a grant for you! I just submitted an application for a slow-play digital TTRPG character generation phase. It was a very quick and easy application: <t2world.notion.site/2e7aa03102214cd59c587ece3e36e90c?v=19bb31c774514cab9913d44a10c0194f>

✏️🎨 #4 creative writing lecture art card! This lecture in philosophy and creative writing was given at UCL for their storytelling in film and games students. It considers the body and it's role in how we perceived and experience stories.
The work of French philosopher, Maurice Merleau-Ponty, is not generally considered to be narrative theory, it would more likely be categorised as phenomenology or existentialism. However, I posit that in any dense philosophical text (like his book "Phenomenology of Perception") there are creative writing treasures to be found when applying concepts that examine the human condition.
In this lecture, I pick out how embodied perception and Intentionality might influence how we approach writing a story. The writing, be it in film, games, books, comics, or any narrative form, uses poetic devices to "drag" Intentionality to specific phenomena and may (partially) detach perception from the usual tethers of our embodied state.
Mint the title art. Get the full lecture deck for free when I release in August.
🤓📖🎨🎭✏️
(As with all previous lecture art cards, any of my students who attended ANY of my lectures IRL (including guest lectures or talks outside of UCL) can get the full set airdropped for free, just message me).
What's the etiquette for posting collectibles in thie channel? Is it only the channel founders who share or could I post my own here? Basically, I'm a lecturer in creative writing so wanted to make my lectures collectible quarterly (at the end of each academic term), BUT I'm new to the space and don't really know how to operate here 😅
Always open to learning new things so any tips much appreciated!
