The root cause is that the relay still returns the payload to the proposer even if the beacon block is incorrect, allowing the proposer to access the block content before another block is finalized. Attackers exploit this issue by maliciously constructing invalid blocks, making it impossible for the block to be verified, and preventing the relay from broadcasting (with a status code of 202), thus gaining access to the transaction content in advance.
mev-boost-relay has urgently released a new version to fix this issue, and it is recommended that relay operators promptly upgrade their relays.
