They all say that the sun represents light. Once people have light, they have hope.
Four years ago, Chrome Squiggle #0 was minted as the inaugural project on Art Blocks…today, Art Blocks founder and Chromie Squiggle artist Erick Calderon announced that the final Squiggle (#9999) will be going to the LACMA!
In typical Erick fashion, he’s adding another layer to the project, something that could only only possible with crypto art…he announced that to commemorate the last mint, he’ll release a “farewell smart contract” which he worked on with Deafbeef.
Medium specificity for the win!!!
He writes:
“To sign the farewell you’ll simply send any amount of ETH (…anything you send will be immediately and automatically sent back to you…) to the smart contract address. This will trigger a function in the contract to record your participation.
You’ll have a full week to do so, and then the contract will be paused and sealed forever… Then, in the weeks following I will initiate the transaction for minting Squiggle #9999 directly to the museum’s address via this smart contract, eternally linking anyone that participates to the final mint.”
I think this is a super creative way to bring the community in to the final mint and acknowledge how instrumental Art Blocks (and the Chromie Squiggle, the particular) has been in establishing significant building blocks of crypto art and the generative art genre. This also speaks to how Erick is constantly innovating and pushing the limits of how crypto art is able to operate.

Japanese advertising is.. laughable. Billion dollar athlete, one of the biggest superstars on EARTH, & some old executive greenlights this? Problem is - no one younger is stepping into the room with ideas/a commanding presence because of respect to elders/authority & no foreigner is being given an ear, so it remains.
