Memphis and its tomb pyramid are located on the west bank of the Nile River in northeastern Egypt. Memphis was once the capital of ancient Egypt with a history of 5000 years. The pyramid, located 8 kilometers from Memphis, is the only remaining ancient "Seven Wonders" in the world. In 1979, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization listed Memphis, its cemetery and pyramids as cultural heritage on the The World Heritage List.
