Dynamic - consists of information and assets flow in the network
Adaptive - the behaviour can be adjusted based on environmental factors, eg: bitcoin mining difficulty controller
Multi-scale - specifications are determined by local protocols but also have macro-scale/universal properties such as "no double spending" rule
