The congressional hearing for TikTok's CEO, Shou Zi Chew, I give a D rating.
There are many legitimate questions to ask about TikTok, including data privacy and moderation/censorship issues.
There are far more questions that were asked of TikTok that could've been asked of any major social media company. This took up the vast majority of questioning that I watched
Ex-Twitter executives were recently grilled about findings from the Twitter files, they were held to account and rightfully so.
TikTok can and should be held to account, too.
So should Meta products.
But this double-standard for foreign companies like TikTok, which we know are inspired (in part) by lobbying by Zuck and other American-based social platforms who stand to benefit from a potential TikTok ban, is wrong.
This will make a lot of things easy
