Here's how Optimism's lack of fraud proofs will cost gitcoin 6-7 figures to shut down the OP stack chain Public Goods Network (PGN)
6 months after announcing winding down of PGN, there's still $ 1.5 million left . turning it off means burning these assets, which you definitely don't want to do for legal (& other) reasons
But wait, what about all those DA costs we incurred posting the data to L1 , users can withdraw from ETH mainnet right?
Wrong. No fraud proofs
If you ever needed a compelling reason for choosing between Arbitrum Orbit over OP stack, this is it
Take the risk of paying hundreds of thousands dollars a year to maintain your zombie chain, or easily shut it down & let users employ fraud proofs to take their assets out

very insightful words from @ 0ximran :
"I'm 40+, married, have kids, am rooted now. But if I were in my 20s NOW.. this is what I would do- It takes deliberate thinking, design and effort to live a life that is not ordinary in terms of income, time, and freedom.
1. Floor expenses for a few years. Rent in a cheap country for <$ 300, for example Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia. Portugal if in Europe. Costa Rica if in the Americas. Eat cheap & nutritious $ 2 meals like chicken rice, buy groceries in bulk & eat whole foods.
2. Work in a job that is competitive globally or USD terms, and remote. Very possible in crypto. Very possible in the gig economy. More employers are open to it. Even do multiple gigs, but spend less time at work. Remote work gives you about 2.5+h a day back. 6500h in 10 years. No bullshit costs for work wear, work socials, lunch crowd, commute. In crypto specifically, there are more opportunities to increase income over time compared to other industries for example entry level to C-Level in 4-5 years. More exposure to upside (token allocations, alpha).
3. Save and invest. Working & investing in sectors you know (e.g. you work in crypto, understand and invest in crypto) and compounding your efforts, knowledge, and capital over 3 years.
4. Build up your side gig, side business, personal brand. On Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, share the knowledge you gain and the insights you have. Have conversations that matter to the market you are part of. As you do that, your network and opportunities increase exponentially - and so do your income and upsides. You would be able to easily gain $ 0.5M in wealth if you are disciplined in 3 years, and if you take some risks that pay off or are lucky, you could be >$ 1M or more. Not only that, you will be debt-free, highly skilled & experienced with your work & your money, and experienced in the ways of the world - ready to take on the next choose-your-own-adventure, with much less constraints.
Let's get it anon. Remilio"
