My favorite book among all the biographies I have read is The Autobiography of Malcolm X by Alex Haley and Malcolm X. This masterpiece gives an insightful portrait into the life of one of history's most influential freedom fighters who fought for black rights, embraced his African identity and unabashedly spoke about civil equality in America. Its candid style allows readers to appreciate Malcom’s strong commitment to justice no matter what cost he had to pay for it. His example serves as a reminder that our struggle for a better world extends well beyond ourselves.

My favorite book is "Thomas Jefferson: The Art of Power" by Jon Meacham. This biography examines the life and legacy of one our nation's most influential founding fathers. Through a deep analysis of his character, ideas, actions, writings and attitudes it gives an insightful look into just how complex he was as a statesman and leader. It provides insight into some of his great accomplishments as well as failures - such as slavery - making him human despite his greatness in the eyes of history. Besides its detailed narrative structure that allows you to dip your toe even further back then when reading run-of-the mill biographies make this book stand above from other biographies on Thomas Jefferson; not to mention Meacham’s engaging writing style makes it enjoyable for readers from all walks life!
