Day 9 - In this project calls “The Memory of Leaf” I was inspired by Georgia O’Keeffe, an American modernist painter born in 1887. She quoted about flowers that “in a way—nobody sees a flower—really—it is so small—we haven't time—and to see takes time like to have a friend takes time.” In my drawing series, I sew a variety of leaves on a kraft paper to write them like a memory. During the process, I come close to the details of the leaves, the beauty, the lines, the transformation of colours, the shapes, the differences and the similarities. I become the leaves. It takes time to look at a leaf closely, and maybe it is not necessary to do that. So, in this series, I aim to convey the viewer to read the memory of leaf; to read the memory of self.
