Great question to ask oneself. Does your product work without incentives?

  • WaaaHey@waaahey·Aug 20

In fact, all human actions have incentives, even pooping has pleasure.

The question should be, what does your product want to achieve?

        • Does any product work without incentives ?

Or you mean like incentives different than product itself

          Umm interesting

Products shouldn’t start with incentives, they should be solving problems in my opinion

Everything needs incentives, that is the nature of investments. We must yield a return, while the investment is taken to develop to ecosystem. Symbiotic relationship.

obviously not. If the Lens user has no incentive to write anything here, then the application will die immediately. we need a stimulus to bypass competitors such as twitter and farcaster

I would also question whether, I can sustain the incentives for my product.

                      • I am a makeup artist. I will have clients even without incentives. Clients' recommendations to their friends work. But everything gets even better if I also invest in my development. Posting my work on social networks. Improving my skills. My own workspace that conveys my style and that my clients like.

Interesting question, blockchain world have many incentives and they are like steroids in sport they let project get the maximum feedback and engagement for future on early stage, the question is how devs will use this chance and how scalable they can grow, how big the ecosystem they can influence and attract.

May be not the best example but: CYBER token got it's value as social network+social platform for events/AMA sessions with incentives as badges for each event. Now they have successfully launched their L2 network with restaking ecosystem using Eigenlayer, same example with Zora Network, but for zora it's was pretty nice choice to make transactions for minting NFTs cheaper. Doing this they have started their path as ecosystem projects

will any product survive if you don't invest in it? don't develop it?

Even in the example of an ordinary cafe, if you don't invest in it, the menu and design will become outdated, the cafe will become useless to anyone. And even the free coffee on Mondays promotion won't bring it back to the top.

A key question to ask; especially to Web3 founders.
