Our worlds are created by our minds. We have extremely limited access to any form of objective reality. This aligns with Kant's assertion that we only experience phenomena, not noumena. The only reality we can experience is the reality created by our sense data. The meaning we attach to that sense data is mostly based on what we are taught. For example, we perceive the sky as blue, or distinguish it from red, because we were trained to differentiate these colors from a young age. Berkeley's idealism complements this by suggesting that colors like blue and red exist only as perceptions in the mind.
These colors might have different properties, such as wavelengths or penetration power, but fundamentally they remain the same thing: light. Korzybski's insight that "the map is not the territory" reminds us that our categorizations of light are abstractions. These differences are somewhat arbitrary to any objective reality that might be attached to them because we simply have no way to interact with such reality. For all we know, the differences between red and blue might depend entirely on the mood of some cosmic entity controlling human experience. Hume's skepticism reinforces this uncertainty by questioning whether our causal assumptions are justified.
Tomorrow, blue might look like red. But since we attach the same word and meaning to it, the change would be imperceptible. Wittgenstein would argue that our shared language games stabilize this perception, but these conventions are inherently fluid. Even the tools we use to measure these differences suffer the same flaws. We attach numbers to measure wave fluctuations, but as Husserl might contend, these measurements are constructs of consciousness, not reflections of an independent reality.
We don't even know whether those recorded numbers are static over time. This message might say something completely different tomorrow. The literal words might change, and nobody would notice because it might be changing everywhere all at once. Even in my mind. Even in the minds of everyone who reads this. Baudrillard's concept of simulation suggests that such a shift would pass unnoticed if representations of reality remain consistent, highlighting the fragility of our grasp on truth.
Colour me your colour, baby
Colour me your car
Colour me your colour, darling
I know who you are
AI is cool. I've been using windsurf to build python and javascript apps. It's great. My one gripe is that even though it's focused on code, it still has this inherent ethical bias. It refuses to write anything that might be used for penetration testing. I have to coax it into writing code that executes OS commands. It's pretty infuriating especially since I do low level app design for my raspberry pi.
Made a thing. Check it out if you have a raspberry pi5. <woodmurderedhat.github.io/raspberry-gpio-controller/>
Panyaza Lesufi, Gauteng’s Premier, faces a series of accusations regarding his administration's handling of corruption cases within provincial government departments. Civil society groups like AfriForum, along with political opponents in the Democratic Alliance (DA), accuse Lesufi of obstructing accountability measures by delaying or concealing forensic reports meant to expose corruption. Notably, these reports detail misappropriations across several government programs and departments, including alleged misconduct linked to substantial budget mismanagement at facilities like the Tembisa Hospital and AngloGold Ashanti Hospital

One focal point of the controversy involves social welfare funds allocated to non-profits. AfriForum alleges that funds intended for food banks, school supplies, and dignity packs were misused, with officials suspected of fraud and money laundering. Instead of facilitating further investigation, Lesufi's office reportedly terminated a legal firm's mandate to review these irregularities, a move critics argue impedes transparency

Lesufi denies these allegations, contending that delays stem from ongoing investigative processes and has publicly dismissed claims of a cover-up, stating his commitment to transparency. He argues that releasing reports prematurely could interfere with active investigations. However, opposition parties and watchdogs contend that these delays erode public trust and weaken accountability within his administration
