25 years after I first started making music and posting it on the internet, I'm starting to get excited about making music and posting it on the internet again. #y2ktoweb3
Well. Hello Lens. See what happened was, I was using Orb on mobile. Which is a really cool product. problem is, it keeps not being able to log me in, so I don't get to post or interact with you and then I move on to whatever mobile app is sapping my will to live currently and then I forget to post and then our relationship as lens frens just withers away. Which is super sad. Because I like you. And I think I might have just got my first collected post today? Or at least someone meant to.
Anyway how have you been?
I've been good - I've been slowly building wkshp.xyz and I've been dropping my genesis NFT on Sound XYZ www.sound.xyz/syd/light-in-the-dark which was a really fun experience (and there are still editions available)
And to the person who keeps bidding on this username on OS - no. No, this is me.
Hope you're having a good weekend.
I've spent mine making a very (un)avoidable stinky drummer face while recording with the Echo Magic crew.
Streaming did not replace CDs.
TikTok will not replace streaming.
NFTs will not replace either.
We are misled by looking to the past evolution of physical media as a guide.
These are additive revenue streams and connection opportunities.
Take them or leave them.
I’m here to have fun building a place where me and my friends are empowered to make great music and have a chance at careers that do not rely on fame/saturation/domination to be sustainable and lucrative. \n\nYou?
🤫 Has anyone built a post scheduler for @lensxyz yet like Typefully or Tweethunter?
I know that seems like very “marketing bro” to have one of those but for a parent it can be invaluable to have a place to stockpile thoughts that will come out when you’re knee deep in Legos and mushy banana. cc @christina
(((((( I’m adding e X t r a c h a r a c t e r s so this doesn’t auto-post on Twitter - this orb app is very cool but there’s no character count so I’m just guessing this should probably do it )))))
Quotes from my existing audience reacting to our NFT drop.
😂 - "This is the hardest way to give you $30 I can possibly imagine "
🥴 - "I have no idea what I just bought, homie - but anything for you!"
😳 - "I really enjoyed what I hear and see…I have no idea what I'm supposed to do though…"
🫣 - "is this the dark web? Is it still www.? Or are we supposed to have one of those sliders over our cameras?"
🤞 - "Sincere respect for doing this, especially during arguably the most disastrous, ridiculous time in the history of NFTs. You're inspiring."
🤝 -"I'm grateful to have a web3.0 pioneer in my circle, and I look forward to hearing about the frontier."
😬 - "I dig this song!!!! I'm sketched on crypto but i love you."
My thoughts:
The entire point of this piece is connection and these are all opportunities to connect.🔌⚡️
How early we are in the space. 🌞 GM indeed.
The folks that are web3 native are relatively few!
If you're one of them consider a RT, a post or a shout-out for LIGHTS.
It could lead to connections we couldn't make on our own. 🙏

LAUNCH DAY for our first NFT: even crazier than I thought it would be. \n\nTRANSFORMATION from wanting to do it to doing it: complete. \n\nMORE info, our story and the piece 👉 wkshp.xyz/syd-litd
Light In The Dark (Live Acoustic)
This song won't be out until Jan 2023 ....The "ghosts" from the full production are in my new Async piece coming out next week....This video is exclusive to Lens....THEREFORE you know more about this song than anyone in the world because we're lens frens. I mean, that seems cool to me?!
But not as cool as these hashtags! #guyinthestudio #singersongwriter #y2ktoweb3
Big week in my move from Y2K to web3 this week.
Just sent this email to my list featuring the drop information for our async art generative piece and a how-to guide for navigating web3 that I wrote for folks who are just getting started...let the onboarding and questions begin!

@christina.lens - is there anything written that I can dig into that talks about content moderation on lens? You know, contingencies/plans for the worst case kind of stuff that all social networks need to deal with - just trying to educate myself on the fundamentals of this incredible project
