Asked a “challenges and opportunities” panel yesterday if Web3 social protocols should have a delete button.
They all laughed at the idea and basically said no.
WDYT? Delete button? polls.mask.social/polls/poll-dc6c2047-1f5b-4589-86b2-9d1535789be3?author=/profile/lwsnbaker?source=lens
For the past 18-24 months, we've been playing catch up to web2 social platforms.
Web3 needed basic features like posts, follows, feeds, drafts, scheduled posts, and so on.
Seems easy enough but add to the fact that Lens and Farcaster have had multiple upgrades for scalability and frankly refactoring and you realize the ground was shifting a lot for builders. For apps supporting multiple networks like @fireflyapp problems only multiplied.
But, I'm here to say. The ground seems solid now. We are no longer putting out fires and playing catch up to X and others. Frames, tipping, channels, NFTs, and so on are just the beginning.
Games, betting, defi, and everything else you can imagine in crypto are already by default social. All of them and more will become widgets and tools for getting sh*t done while having fun, making money, and living your life onchain.
Truly public infrastructure and public goods make for a world of absolute digital abundance. Cheers to the Phase 2.
