Spice Girls
Thirty years ago, they first came together: Baby, Ginger, Sporty, Scary, and Posh Spice. Two years later, the "Spice Girls" – arguably the most iconic girl group of the 90s – debuted their very first single "Wannabe." Within a year of its release, it reached the top of the charts in over 30 countries. The first album "Spice" remains the most successful by a female pop group to this day.
This year, the Royal Mail is honoring the "Spice Girls" with a series of postage stamps dedicated to the group. And rightly so: The British group, consisting of Victoria Adams (now Beckham), Melanie Brown, Emma Bunton, Melanie Chisholm, and Geri Halliwell (now Horner), has shaped the pop scene of the 90s and 2000s and, most importantly, popularized "Girl Power."
