        Great piece Leo! As someone who isn't familiar with the work of Girard, this gives me a good sense of what seem to be some of his major ideas.

        Out of curiosity, is that footnote [1] a reference to Nietzsche's pathos of distance? I'm not able to find the footnote itself.
