Learned yesterday that because chatgpt trained its data off stack overflow. It’s now a ghostown community and forum because everyone goes to chatgpt.

This to me is (a) sad and (b) no financial acknowledgment for this data from both stack overflow as a platform or its users.

  • most of the time when i asked on stack overflow got more errors in my code :(

As a top 2% all-time contributor to Stack Overflow I’m actually totally fine with this. My answers on there were always meant to be a public resource and frankly, SO was a terrible place to ask for help; filled with out of date information and people answering just for points. I don’t miss it, at all. 🫢
