Why did twitter lists never take off?

Seemed like something that should work but I literally never check mine.

I feel like they have improved recently. I have a few setup but found the content too much previously. I think they may have even included comments vs posts and so was too much. If there was some kind of algo curating the content I think they would be really nice to use

Didn't take off because bots took it over and added you to lists so they could mass tag people on those scam airdrops and such

It had some bugs as I recall, pinned lists would randomly disappear and etc.

Lists make it easier to keep tabs on accounts across multiple different industries/categories. Otherwise tracking even two topics - say crypto and ML - in one feed would make your brain hurt.

              • I only use lists tbh

It makes my journey through the app much more seamless

I don't like the for you feed because I follow a lot of people and I can miss certain posts from people I care about

I occasionally browse the following feed, although I generally have lists of people I care about, artists, and other people whose ideas I enjoy reading and interacting with

There are brands, business, and even people that I follow that I am not sure why I followed and this is why I preferred to create and use these lists

You are also on one of them :))🌹

I use Twitter lists all the time. It's one of twitter's best features. Highly underrated.

                  • I still use many Twitter lists. however most are private as I think they only make sense to me or I don't want to reveal who I'm following without having clicked the Follow button.
I started to use lists more after entering crypto. basically, they're created by topic.

lists - not just on Twitter - are a great way to organize resources on certain topics. want to read more about crypto regulation? consult your regulation list. want to read more on Starknet? head to the relevant lists... and now I have revealed two lists 😀

Twitter lists is a powerful tool nobody is using correctly.

In order to benefit from Twitter lists, you have to use Tweetdeck (now called X Pro).

Here's a screenshot of my Tweetdeck. I'm following 4 Twitter lists in real time.

Hypothesis #1: Too much effort required (active thinking and one click 🙈) vs most people just want to scroll? Combined with inertia to change habits.

Hypothesis #2: The people that we would put on our lists appear anyway most of the time early in our feed as we engage more with their content

Hypothesis #3: People still don’t know it exists?

Wonder the same thing. But I check my @buttrfly.lens lists daily.
