What is Celestia?

• A modular blockchain, allowing anyone to easily deploy their own zero-knowledge & optimistic roll-up blockchain.

• $55M raised from Jump Crypto, FTX Ventures, and Balaji

• Currently in Testnet, called "Mamaki Testnet"

How does the consensus mechanism work in Celestia?

• To make sure a block is fully valid, nodes download and process all transactions in a single block

• Processing operations requires a high capacity of nodes, meaning the network can scale only when new nodes join

Celestia will have a native token for its network
(it does NOT exist right now). Please, be careful of scams

Utility: pay for gas fees & secure the PoS network

Not confirmed. All is speculation at this point.

What can you do right now on the Celestia network?

• Participate in their Mamaki Testnet
• 💡 Run your node (it can be a "validator" node or a "consensus" node)
• Build with developer beta

Interestingly, in their roadmap we can find "2023 Incentivized Testnet". (Mainnet launch: 2023)

So it seems that for now there is no explicit incentive to be a node and validator, at least until they announce it.
