I'm about to give up on Gitcoin.

there are rounds that aren't on PGN, so I checked with one on Polygon that features some worthwhile projects added them to the card, tried to check out paying USDC. the transaction doesn't go through, high fees, tx reverted. several attempts.

changed the browser (that has a different wallet app), connected, and much to my surprise the card was empty. added the projects again only to experience the same problems when checking out.

I don't start bothering with PGN now. someone should should initiate a big grants round for Gitcoin, so they can fix their tech in a big way. then they can come back in two years or so.

since I joined web3 two years ago I've participated in the rounds. but it seems like things only get worse. gutted.

Took me close to an hour yesterday to make a batch of seven contributions. Failed attempts after filed attempts without any explanation or error code
Was very close to giving up!

I agree. Last time I contributed on Gitcoin I don't remember it being as much of a hassle. zkSync and Polygon payment method, easy. The UI on Giveth is much easier to use, also.

thanks for the feedback. we have a lot of work to do to make modular blockchains usable for low-fee multi-L2 use cases like gitcoin grants checkout. 😕

next round i want to have a UI that allows 1 txn to trigger fund transfers on many diff l2s at once. which will solve the issue you posted about.

meantime, the gitcoin team is listening to your feedback. ive passed along this post + other posts with similar feedback.

I see a lot of my unspoken problems under this post 😅

Hopefully they'll optimize everything and improve the UX.

                    • ok, I'm weak and eventually I've managed to contribute to 18 projects. on three different chains. lots of hassle. no fun.
resolution: no more contributions if things don't improve significantly.

same feeling here. if the goal is to support public goods why are we using tools that only web3 users know??

I think kevin owocki has rejoined to lead the gitcoin team again, hopefully that helps them refocus on shipping something that works.

Ohhh 😯..I did in the initial days, did not have any issues..both in PGN and Polygon
btw I did use layerswap to bridge to PGN

Yup. Already gave up on gitcoin. Used to be a huge fan, I even created an nft project to contribute the mint fees directly to the gitcoin matching pool last year.

But gitcoin has been captured by incompetent and misaligned leadership that no longer shares the values of the original gitcoin. Misstep after misstep, bad decisions, and every round seems to be getting worse.

And this can't be fixed by a gitcoin round. The issue is not money. Gitcoin has more than enough money. An alternative is now needed.

big +1 I would definitely join a @gitcoin round to fix all the issues on @gitcoin .
