Background:

What is Sabinenya?

Sabinenya is a far-off distant world in a parallel dimension, where the apex lifeforms have a humanoid-like appearance but are visibly attuned to elements of their planet’s makeup from birth.  Having the capacity to harness these gifts grants citizens special status, with a handful of individuals being born in an era capable of summoning the great elemental deities into their being without bodily harm due to the unique conduit nature of their biological makeup.  This collection focuses on the development of your true likeness within this alternate reality.

When I brought Legend of Sabinenya to web3 back in Jan of this year, I intended it to be an illustrative series depicting the people, places and events held in the world of Sabinenya.  I was recently presented an opportunity to bring this series to Titles.xyz and I couldn’t be more excited. (HUGE Thank you to @sorenwrenn%F0%9F%92%AF%E2%9C%A8 !)  I wanted to solve for customization in a way that ‘traditional’ web3 pfp projects hold great opportunity, while preserving the IP of my concept built within the Retrofuturistic Impressionism aesthetic I have developed over the last 2 years.

Legend of Sabinenya – Aesthetic and Design Intent

The Aesthetic:
Retrofuturistic Impressionism- this is the chosen aesthetic of this series.  It is a merger of two major artistic aesthetics- Retrofuturism and Impressionism that speak to the nature of my work and greater aesthetic intent.

Character Design Intent:
Each design used to model Legend of Sabinenya uses a blend of science and fantasy. Using my known haplogroup, known ancestral lines traced back 1000’s of years and known modern day lineage locations, I use what I am down to my DNA to guide character design intent for a unique, authentic human fingerprint within each character design.  The intent is to honor that which made it possible for me to be here today, known and unknown.

Being a consumer of illustrative media in childhood , I would frequently look for alternative media that would readily depict people that look like me faithfully. The chosen illustrative aesthetic is homage to how I give back to my global community.
