Hello good people of Lens 👋😃
New user here - I thought it’s time I introduced myself.
I’m Andrew - an indie developer from Scotland with a background in lots of JavaScript and database development for social media analytics among other things.
I believe decentralized social media is the best chance we have to break out of the divisive advertising-driven mess that is big social.
For the past year I’ve been working on a project that combines social media with immersive 3D experiences on the web and the main reason I’m here is to find out how I can integrate Lens Protocol.
3DeSocial (3D Decentralized Social) came about in part from my desire to explore the use of the 3D medium to communicate social content in different ways during COVID lockdown.
It’s also a reaction to the potential dystopian nightmare of the Zuckerverse becoming a metaverse monopoly. I could say more about this but as it’s my first post I’ll keep it light.
My aim is to build web-based tools and techniques for combining 3D, VR and social in ways that create monetization opportunities and artist discovery for the creator economy.
I would also like to encourage others to do the same so that there are strong alternatives to Meta’s walled garden.
I’ve recently had the privilege to work with the awesome @collectz team creating 3D spaces for displaying 2D and 3D NFTs (interactive 3D models stored on decentralized storage and accessed via NFT metadata) and experiments such as 3D NFT claim games and 3D avatars linked to your decentralized social media identity.
We live in an incredible time in tech right now with AI and blockchain revolutionizing so many industries including art and 3D content creation.
I’m excited to find out more about what the Lens community is building and I hope that I can contribute.
