🏉 TEAM FENTY: I'm Rooting for RiRi 💅🏾✨

“My whole life was shaped on this very road. I was just a little island girl flying kites in the cemetery…but I had big dreams.” —Robyn “Rihanna” Fenty

From humble beginnings in Barbados to global phenom.

My all-time favorite rags to riches success story is headlining the Super Bowl LVII halftime show today.

I’ve been a fan of Rihanna for 18 years and I already know I will be absolutely undone once I see her grace that Super Bowl stage for the halftime show.

Loyal fans have been scrambling to figure out what her setlist will include. Some popular guesses are the authoritative “Run This Town” with Jay Z and Kanye West, global smash “We Found Love” with Calvin Harris, cheeky “Work” with Drake, among others.

Apple Music has done a phenomenal job promoting her return these past few days. The Rihanna Navy has responded overwhelmingly positively to all of the ads, but did you notice that she herself has not appeared in any of them?

It takes incredible skill for Rihanna to not be physically present in one single teaser, yet to have her essence and range fully embodied. Kudos to all involved with ideation and execution.

When it comes to Miss Fenty, it’s not just her extensive catalog, her brazen “Bad Gal” persona, or her astronomical success across industries that has kept us hooked over the course of almost two decades.

Her existence is the very embodiment of everything that we wish to become or wish to know—and the telling of her story in real-time is one that we all want to be a part of.

This Super Bowl Sunday, I’m not rooting for the Kansas City Chiefs or the Philadelphia Eagles.

I’m rooting for the one and only Rihanna.
