Alimo weekly newsletter 8/30/24
Hey friends happy Friday!
We got another jam packed week for ya. haha. Been a fun week out in NYC and again really settling into this new environment. It's been fun exploring this new zone, checking out restaurants / bars, and really getting to know my surroundings.
I've found walking around and finding good coffee shops is a way for me to get in with an area. Which is exactly what I've been doing haha. Since my studio doesn't open up until the first of September, I've been working at coffee shops to get work done. There's something about the noise at shops that I get super productive in. That being said, all day can be a grind no doubt. Work life bay-bee!
Lets jump into weekly recap before heading into Labor Day Weekend:
-Been focusing on my recent commission. This has been my primary focus this week. These commissions are really fun working with the collector, which turns into a fun collaboration in a lot of ways. Sending over some fun sketches today :)
-Wrapped up new artwork for The Canal Street Show that is mid September here in NYC. Super stoked on this piece. It's a 9:16 ratio meant for display. Fun creating with these parameters to see what information you can show vs hide. Helps lead the user thinking more (does for me at least)
-Today, I'm doing a video interview with Berlin Art Link Magazine. They are out in Germany. Looking forward to chatting with them talking art and Alimo :)
-Next week I move into my studio, which I'm super excited about. Got a desk in there this week, but outside of that will be fun to fill it with sketches and paintings over time.
This weekend i'm be low key in NYC. Hang with friends and enjoy a 'sleepy' weekend here, may go to the beach but chillin. Lots of folks leave, but still plenty of folks here doing fun stuff.
That's it for me. Have a wonderful weekend friends!
