The two families find out about the relationship and forbid them from seeing each other. Romeo is exiled from Verona and Juliet is forced to marry Paris, a man she does not love. The lovers devise a plan to be reunited; Juliet will take a potion which will make her appear dead, and Romeo will come to her tomb to take her away.

Unfortunately, Romeo does not receive the message in time and believes Juliet to be dead. In a fit of despair, he takes his own life. Juliet wakes to find Romeo dead, and in her grief, she takes her own life as well.
