Boxing, also known as Boxing (boc derived from a French word boxe; pronounced: [/bɔks/]),[2] or boxing is a martial art and at the same time a modern combat sport originating from the West. Boxing uses punches from the arm combined with moving legs, head and body, often wearing protective gloves and other protective equipment such as hand bandages and mouth, teeth, abdominal protection, throwing punches on the opponent's upper body for a specified period of time at a square or rectangular quadrilateral arena, designed with elastic platforms and four-corner ligaments, called the Boxing floor
