What do you think could be the next big narratives in Web3? (e.g., for the next bull run, let’s say 2023). 🤔
Some candidates from my list:
I feel like the DAOs will be more different in 2023. As we are figuring out what works and what not. Maybe new tools and framework and operations on DAOs will occur.
100% Social & Gaming:
Multi-Billion Dollar industries,
Ripe for disruption (& web3 genuinely improves them)
Scaling has unlocked Web3 app to compete
I think the next bull market comes from a specific unexpected demand. I think non-financial use-cases have lot of potential since a new users doesn’t need capital to interact with the blockchain and at the same time receive ownership. I am a bit biased but being able to create and own your social capital is quite big thing. The interesting part is in which form it becomes exciting for users to on-board. Really interested what could be s potential catalyst for a next demand cycle
All of the above are potential answers, but as after 2017/18 I presume it is something that might have not even come to our mind yet. Will be interesting to see what the next cycle has in store for us
By focusing on social applications two things jump out at me: keep subscribers regardless of the application and directly remunerate the creators. I dream of a Discord dapps like a dashboard (or Windows explorer) filled with soulbound tokens first and NFTs to trade, fun before money. Creating an identity seems important if this future becomes a reality.
actually, I don't see a bull run in the short term. maybe 2025+.
I think the next bull run - if any - will be based on many more people entering the space. to those people it will be critical to see a real use case and a smooth UX. any DeFi or DAO utilities are not relevant to newcomers. so I'd say, it's some NFT utility and to a lesser likelihood, web3 social.
web3 social is difficult. currently, it's mostly copying web2 apps like Twitter and FB. but why should people leave those apps if the UX of web3 apps mostly isn't competitive with them? decentralization, ownership,... are not relevant to most users. this has already been identified in the 2000s when people actually had a choice between those apps and decentralized approaches.
web3 social has to find its own use case.
sorry, if this all sounds too negative. maybe ask me again tomorrow. 😁
assuming next bull run won't start 2023 ;-)
-> web3 social media / creator economy / token gating "everything" online&offline
"sustainable scalability" - L2+ (ecosystems) imo could be a narrative for 2023. #L323 ;-)
high likelihood "narratives":
ETHkiller, meme coins (my bet are cats for the next cycle) 😉
!NFA!
lots of regulation talks lately, for the next bull run maybe we need more positive clarity on it, as if a country bans a chain or a coin it will completely drop token prices.
apart from reg talk, I'm super on Web3 social + NFTs utility (NFTs as a social/community feature + IRL exp)
