The pleiades, also known as M45, is a very bright cluster of stars in the constellation taurus. You can see it with the naked eye unless in very light polluted skies as a small cloud of stars where the 7 brightest stars can be discerned. There is a lot of cosmic dust in the background and the blue color is given by the new, very hot stars in the center.
