Ever seen a sunrise through the periscope of a submarine? Welcome to Simon's Town.

Our final stop at the Cape brought us to Simon's Town, a coastal retreat that's a world apart from Downtown Cape Town and Noordhoek. Here, the day begins with a mesmerising spectacle as the sun climbs over the horizon of False Bay, bathing the tranquil town in a golden glow.

The calm water of the bay is shared by an array of vessels, each with a story to tell. Submarines and warships from South Africa's largest naval base glide majestically alongside small fishing boats and canoes, their day-to-day operations a contrast of purpose yet harmonious in coexistence.

Simon's Town, with its naval history and serene seaside ambiance, is a unique blend of military grandeur and tranquil simplicity, reminding us that beauty and strength often reside in the same place.
